I grew up in northern Indiana. By fishing and playing in the woods as a youngster, I began to be educated about the natural world. As my education formalized, I came to the conclusion that devoting my career to conservation efforts was the best use of my time. In my free time, I like to hike and kayak (i.e. watch natural things), read, and write about my observations as a naturalist. I also write fiction.
